By every conventional measure, Dana had achieved remarkable success as an insurance agent, consistently exceeding financial goals, earning luxury vacation awards, and memberships to exclusive country clubs. He had everything society told him he should want, yet an unwavering spiritual void lingered.

While building his insurance career, Dana volunteered with his church and discovered a growing passion for missionary work in the Dominican Republic, where he encountered extreme poverty and realized that, through leadership, he could make profound differences in people’s lives.

In his late forties, Dana felt what he describes as being “tapped on the shoulder” to become a pastor, a decision that required tremendous sacrifice from both him and his family. Their standard of living and time together would be greatly diminished. Today, Dana presides over a congregation of 8,000 parishioners, having found work that feeds his soul rather than just his bank account.

• “People need to trust and not be afraid to take the path in front of them.”
• “Take small steps. It is easier to trust the path you’re on if you take one step at a time. When you get confirmation, take the next step and the next step.”
• “Not everyone hears God’s voice when He speaks to them directly. However, you may recognize that God talks through messages from other people.”
• “Step through the open doors even when they aren’t leading where you think you want to go.
